All of us wanted a quality sleep. Undeniably, a good sleep for a few hours may be better than a disturbed sleep for several hours. The latter can leave the body stressed and feeling like it has not rested at all.
The quality of sleep at night does not only depend on what time you sleep, on the food you eat, or what you did the whole day. It may also be affected by the things that you will do before finally going to bed or sleeping.
In a video, Dr. Willie Ong generously shared some tips on what to do before sleeping. Keeping an eye on these pieces of advice on a daily habit can greatly help in achieving a quality sleep.
What To Do Before Sleeping According to Dr. Willie Ong
- Eat two (2) to three (3) hours ahead before going to bed. It is best to stand or walk after eating to help the stomach in digesting the food faster and prevent acid reflux.
- Drink warm water, milk, or tea at night. You may also eat some banana if you are struggling to sleep.
- Avoid drinking coffee at night. It is also not advisable to drink other beverages that have contents that can make you stay awake.
- Before sleeping, list down all the things that you will do the next day. Also, it is best to prepare your needs like your clothes and bag.
- Secure your bedroom or the area where you will sleep. It must be well-ventilated, comfy, and free from noise. Do not let the electric fan point directly to your face to avoid sore throat.
- Pamper yourself. Find ways for relaxation – it may be through a bath, reading a book, etc.
- Rest for thirty (30) minutes after arriving home. After half an hour, wash your face to remove oil and pollution.
- Be consistent on your sleeping time. The body knowing the time to sleep and getting used to it can greatly improve the quality of your sleep. Also, based on the video, it is best to power off all the gadgets before sleeping.
- Give thanks to God. Before sleeping, pray for everything.
