These are the things you must know know about sensitive skin and what you should and shouldn’t do to it.
SENSITIVE SKIN – If your is sensitive, here are the things you must not remember so as not to worsen your condition and improve it.
What triggers sensitive skin are factors like weather, allergies, or certain products which may result in redness, drying out, stinging, feeling itchy or tight, or bumps, scales, or hives. The sensitivity becomes worse due to wrong products or using a product in the wrong manner.
This type of skin more prone to inflammation or adverse reactions due to chemicals, dyes, and fragrances that a product contains. As much as people are aware, apart from sensitive, there are other types of skin such as normal, dry, oily, combination, scaly, red spots, and skin moles.
Here are the things to remember if you have the sensitive type:
- The DOS:
- Do skin test but not on your face. The safest place to test a product on the inside of your arms and observe the reaction between three to five days.
- Keep your skin hydrated by using moisturizer everyday and hydrating mask once a week.
- Read labels and look for products with natural ingredients such as aloe, chamomile, evening primrose, rose and argan oil for they are packed with nutrients good for the skin.
- Sun exposure is damaging to the skin, thus, use sunscreen or sun cream everyday.
- The DON’TS
- Avoid using soap for it may be damaging to the skin by removing its natural oil.
- Do not use products with any of these harsh and strong ingredients: alcohol, fragrance, citrus, glycolic acid and L-ascorbic Aci.
- Avoid products with rough scrubs, microbeads, and harsh cleansing brushes.
- Never use the same product for the body and the face. The milder the product for the face, the better.
- Don’t make a thick sheets of products on your face. Try the “less is more” approach for numerous ingredients being put on the skin may cause confusion and result in irritation as per Huda Beauty’s post.
- Exposing your face to heat such as hot water may possibly remove its natural oil. Avoid doing this.
