Guide on Pregnancy Test – How It Works
PREGNANCY TEST – Here is a discussion about how this test detects when a woman is pregnant and the accuracy of this test.
In the lives of women, one of the biggest events that could happen is pregnancy. It is like a door to motherhood and it is undeniable that a lot of things change when a woman becomes a mother – and this life-changing move is a dream of most women.
However, there were also several cases when some women thought that they are already on their way to becoming a mother but something happened – and they keep on hoping that soon the pregnancy test will yield two (2) lines again.
The pregnancy test yields two (2) lines when it signifies that a woman is pregnant or positive. Otherwise, only one (1) will appear. How does it work? That is what we will discuss in this article.
Based on an article on Cleveland Clinic, the pregnancy test detects special hormone, the human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG), which is only produced by the body of a woman when she is pregnant. It can be detected through urine or blood.
The hCG builds up once the fertilized egg is implanted in the uterus of a woman. It happens ten (10) days after the conception. There are two (2) types of tests used in detecting whether or not a woman is pregnant – a urine test and a blood test. The former is the one usually done at home.
Pregnancy tests are known to be accurate up to 99% but women are strongly advised to go and see a doctor to confirm their pregnancy after yielding two (2) lines. It is also important so the status of the baby will be monitored and regular check-ups would be lay-outed.
