At night, what most people do often is eat and rest to recharge for the next day. But sometimes, they mindlessly do some things that are basically affecting their next day’s energy. There are actually some habits that are affecting your daytime health.

These habits may actually contribute to poor mental and physical health and inadequate performance at work the next day.

  • Exercise – Generally, working out makes you tired and will help you doze off to a slumber easily but that is not the case. When you work out, the body produces cortisol, a hormone that keeps you alert. Might as well, do your exercise three hours before your bed time.
  • Prepare your lunch for the next day – This way, you get to save time and you tend to prepare a healthier meal.
  • Late-night snacks – If hunger strikes you in the wee hours, try to grab something that are digest easily like toast or yoghurt. Avoid foods with fat, salt, and has lots of calories.
  • Not brushing teeth – Stop neglecting your teeth at night. Be sure to brush it off and floss to avoid cavities and gum diseases.
  • Not enough sleep – Staying up late has corrsponding consequences like craving unhealthy foods the next day and developing disease like diabetes and heart disease in the long run. Get 8 hours of sleep regularly.
  • Alcohol – Commonly, it makes people sleepy but this depends on the situation and the amount. Drinking too much might make your trip to pee happen frequently disrupting your sleep.
  • Coffee – Caffeine and other energy drinks taken before sleeping will result to difficulty in sleeping.
  • Not washing your face – Before bedtime, make sure to wash off the dirt, grime, sweat, and makeup in your face. This way, you prevent yourself from developing pimples and eye infection.
