BANGUNGOT – Doc Willie Ong Shares Reasons Why Some People Experience This Condition

Doc Willie Ong tackles and further explains causes of Bangungot.

BANGUNGOT – The medical expert Doc Willie Ong shared and tackled possible reasons why some people experience “Bangungot” to which some cases ultimately led to death.

Sleeping on a full stomach causes Bangungot to which to others, it can also be called the sudden unexplained death syndrome. And with this, Doc Willie Ong shared the two possible causes of this condition.

Here are the two possible causes of “Bangungot”:

  • Sudden Cardiac Death – Brugada Syndrome
    • To determine that you have this syndrome, patient must undergo ECG test.
    • This affects 5 people in 10,000 worldwide and mostly in Asia, which includes the Philippines.
    • Death can happen in sleep.
    • Treatment: The patient will have Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator which is a battery-powered device place under the skin connected to the heart by one or more wires in order to keep track of the heart beat.
    • Potassium-rich foods are great help such as bananas, sweet potatoes, spinach, avocados
    • If suffering palpitation, do deep breathing, music and relaxation, eat healthy foods, and ten glasses of water.
  • Acute pancreatitis
    • The work of the pancreas is to melt down the foods we eat especially the fat ones. What can cause the swelling of the pancreas are the gall bladder stones as it can get stocked inside the pancreas.
    • Too much drinking of alcoholic beverage can result to acute pancreatitis.
    • Symptoms: Sudden stomach ache where pain reaches the back and vomiting.
    • Treatments for acute pancreatitis include: restriction of eating up to three days, intravenous fluid for hydration, and intravenous medication for pain and vomiting.
    • To avoid this disease, do these: maintain right weight, avoid getting obese, less alcohol and cigarettes, say no to high-fat foods, and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

Note: To avoid Bangungot, wait two to three hours before going to bed and sleep.
