There are lines of work that require standing for several hours. In fact, some has to stand for straight eight (8) hours a day. The only time they can sit is during the lunch break and some 15-minute break time sessions.

Usually, salesgirl and salesmen in shopping malls and stores have to deal with continuous standing everyday. The situation may also be the same for baggers in grocery stores and as well as cashiers. Everytime they go home, they can feel that they are really physically tired and some start to develop arthritis at a young age.

Aside from painful legs and feet, these people also have to deal with varicose veins. These are enlarged, swollen, and twisting veins that appear as blue or dark purple. It may come along with pain. In a video, Doc Willie and Doc Liza Ong generously shared some tips on how to avoid it.

  1. Wear support stockings or compression socks whole day.
  2. Move your feet and legs when standing for hours.
  3. Do not wear very tight pants or jeans.
  4. Eat fruits and vegetables.
  5. Include aerobic exercises when exercising.
  6. When massaging the feet, do it on an upward manner. Do not massage from the upper area going to the lower area as the veins can be inflamed.
