SKIN CANCER WARNING SIGNS – Here are the indications and symptoms which tells that you might have skin cancer according to Doc Willie Ong.

The month of May is also known as the Skin Cancer Awareness Month. This is caused by the abnormal growth of skin and mostly, it develops when the skin is exposed to too much sun. There are three major types and they are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma.

How to prevent this from happening? Experts suggest that you have to avoid to being exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Also, there are indications and changes which will tell you that something is wrong and you might need an immediate medical help.

Now, this is how you can early detect melanoma through your mole based on Doc Willie Ong:

  • Asymmetry – the shape of the lesion must be in two similar halves and not asymmetrical.
  • Border – the border must have smooth and even border not scalloped or with notched edges.
  • Color – the color must be all the same and not a combination of black, red, and brown because if it is, you need to have a check up.
  • Diameter – if a mark is larger than 6 mm or the size of a pencil eraser, this is already a warning sign. Also, another indication is look for one lesion that is darker than the others and have it checked.

There are several ways to prevent melanoma such as to avoid sunbathing in long hours, applying sunblock, avoid being exposed to sun from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M, and wearing something that will protect you from the rays of the sun such as caps, long sleeves, and sun glasses.
