Dr. Willie Ong Cited the Cause of Shingles or Kulebra & Gave Tips on Its Treatment

SHINGLES KULEBRA – Doctor Willie Ong explained the cause and the treatment of this skin condition that is close to chicken pox.

There are a lot of diseases that target the older people. Some of these health conditions include eye problems and as well as bone conditions. Some are on the skin of the person.

With regards to skin conditions, one of them is shingles or more commonly called as “kulebra” in the Philippines. It is a painful skin condition that easily affects people who have low immune system.

According to Dr. Willie Ong, the cause of kulebra is the varicella-zoster virus. It is the same type of virus that can cause chicken pox in children. The doctor revealed that such virus remain in the nerves and can re-activate when we get oldern resulting to this skin condition.

Just like the chicken pox, kulebra is also contagious. Their different is that it does not spread in all parts of the body but focuses on a certain portion. It is usually found in the neck, hips, or close to the eyes.

In the video, aside from the cause of shingles or kulebra, Dr. Willie Ong also cited the cure for the said skin condition. Here are some tips from the doctor:

  • You may take pain relievers if it is painful.
  • Do not pop the shingles as it may cause infection.
  • Prepare a solution by adding a teaspoon of salt in a litter of water. Pour it on the affected area and then gently rub a towel to dry it.
  • Take multivitamins and have enough rest and sleep to strengthen the immune system.
  • If the shingles appear close to the eyes, it is best to see a doctor.
  • You may go for a vaccination against this skin condition. It is usually available for people who are 60 years old and up.
