White blood cells, lymph nodes, spleen, tonsils and adenoids, thymus, bone marrow, skin, and stomach and bowel are the parts that made up our immune system. The immune system is a large network of organs that functions together to protect us from bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi that cause a person to fall ill, cause an infection, and catch a disease.

Your immune system will learn about these foreign invaders that can harm you and will destroy them if ever you get exposed to them in the future. What can cause your immune system to not work properly include factors such as being born with a weak one, acquired immune deficiency, being too active because of an allergic reaction, or an autoimmune disease.

  • changes in weight that you cannot explain
  • white patches cause by your immune system fighting back to your skin’s pigment-making cells
  • jaundice or the yellowing of eyes or skin because your healthy liver cells are being attacked

According to an article from Cleveland Clinic, among the ways to keep your immune system healthy is to quit smoking, maintain a healthy weight, healthy diet, enough sleep, regular exercise, regular washing of hands, manage stress, and get updated vaccines.
