Water is a tasteless and transparent liquid that does a lot of things. It makes wonders and is very beneficial to our life. We can’t literally live without water. We use it for cleaning, for washing, and most importantly, for drinking.

Among the most notable benefits of water apart from quenching our thirst include flushing out toxins from the body, carries nutrients and oxygen to the cells, aids digestion, normalizes blood pressure, stabilizes the heartbeat, regulating body temperature, and many more.

You could be at risk of dehydration if you don’t drink enough amount of this. However, you probably don’t know this yet, but there are actually some candid ways you do that make drinking your water wrong.

  • Drinking straight from the water bottle with BPA.
    Bottles has BPA or the chemical bisphenol A and bottles are made out of this. Make sure to use one that is BPA-free or something that is made of glass or stainless steel.
  • Believing the cold water myth.
    It is not true that cold water has some bad effects like affecting digestion or narrowing the blood vessels. This is actually best to do to cool down.
  • Sliced fruits or vegetables
    The thing about this is that the slices might contain salmonella and E.coli. Make sure to wash the fruit before slicing and mixing it into your water. It’s also not advisable to slice your fruit in the same board where you’re slicing meats.
  • Not taking it when drinking alcohol or coffee.
    A cup of coffee or alcohol must be drank along with a glass of water. Alcoholic beverages are diuretics and drinking water with it can prevent dehydration.
  • Not drinking one full glass with pills.
    When taking any medication or vitamins, make sure to down a glass. Also, take this chance as an opportunity to hydrate. Not drinking it with enough water might stuck the tablet in your esophagus and cause an irritation.
  • Adding sweeteners
    Occassionally adding an artificial flavors to your drinks is just fine but doing it everyday isn’t. These sweeteners might put you at higher chances of developing conditions like type 2 diabetes and cancer. 

According to WebMD, other mistakes you unknowingly do include not drinking when you feel tired, not being aware of the right time to drink (you can’t just chug a gallon right after waking up), drinking from rivers or streams, and drinking just a little amount every day.
