COVID-19 Test: Guide on Test to determine if you’re previously infected

Guide on COVID-19 Test “Antibody Test”

COVID-19 TEST – Do you want to find out if you have unconsciously been infected with coronavirus before?

The world continues to battle against the COVID-19 pandemic that rocked the healthcare systems of different countries. This virus took the lives of millions of people and called for a rapid vaccination.

For several months, the people waited for the development of vaccines to curb the spread of the virus. It mutated and some variants were recorded to have a higher transmissibility rate than the first variant that hit the people.

Several countries and entities developed vaccines. The different brands include Sinovac, Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Sputnik Light, and Janssen.

Currently, nations across the globe are in the process of vaccinating the people. In the Philippines, at least 70 million people have to be vaccinated to achieve population protection.

One of the main reasons why COVID-19 is hard to contain is that it may appear differently among infected people. There are mild cases, severe cases, and cases wherein you won’t see any sign at all or “asymptomatic”.

Some people may look so well and feel normal but they are actually carriers of the virus. Governments are calling for vaccination against the virus saying that although they are not guaranteeing 100% protection from getting infected, records show that they prevent severe cases.

Are you one of those who are doubting that you might have had COVID-19 before? There is a COVID-19 test that you can take to determine it – the Antibody Test.

Based on World Health Organization (WHO), also known as serological test, the antibody test is done on blood samples and it detects the antibodies that the body produced in response to an infection.

According to WHO, it may take days or weeks for antibodies to develop. Thus, taking the COVID-19 test to determine it may not yield the right results in the early stages of the infection or disease.
