Asthma Tips: Good and Bad News For Asthmatic People

Doc Willie shares some asthma tips for everyone.

ASTHMA TIPS – Here are some tips from cardiologist and internist Doc Willie Ong regarding asthma for the people who need to know.

Whether you are a child, teen, or adult, regardless of age, you are likely to get asthma and other lung disease due to the pollution from the surroundings. This happens when the small lung passages called bronchioles swell.

Those people who have asthma are sensitive and allergic to a lot of things and as such, the most common are dust, pollen, foods, and among others. This causes for them to suffer difficulty in breathing, coughing, and wheezing.

Asthma Tips

There are good and bad news for asthmatic people. Bad news is that permanent cure for asthma is not yet available and the good news is your lifestyle changes, improved and better, can decrease your attacks by 50%.

Now, if you are asthmatic, here’s what you need to do according to Doc Willie Ong:

  • Determine what triggers your asthma so you can avoid having to be in that situation again and suffer an attack.
  • If you have specific food allergy, be careful about what you eat and closely observe your reaction to food preservatives, food coloring, junk food, wine, nuts, seafoods, egg, and chicken.
  • There are people who are allergic to certain medicines like aspirin, penicillin and pain relievers. It is best to ask your doctor before taking in anything.
  • Avoid pollen especially during summer season. Take note that there is more pollen from the trees and grass before 10 in the morning. Thus, it is best to stay inside your home especially if its hot or windy outside.
  • Vacuum dust from your bed, sofa, and floor to reduce attacks.
  • Avoid using objects inside your home than can accumulate dust like carpets and rags.
  • The fur or hair from your pet dogs or cats can contribute to your attack. The best thing to do, if you have one, is to bath them every week, or don’t own any pet at all for the sake of your health.
  • Eat fruits rich in flavonoids such as oranges, pomelo, apples, grapes, and calamansi juice for your lungs, blood vessels, and boost immune system.
  • One home remedy during an asthma attack is drinking a cup of black coffee for there’s a study that have shown that black coffee similarly acts like anti-asthma drug theophylline. But severe cases must be brought to the hospital.
