When it comes to cookies, what we would always want is something that is soft and chewy. This is the texture that we all love and a batch of homemade oatmeal cookies is all you ever want to satisfy this craving paired with a glass of creamy whole milk.

These cookies come perfectly well with juicy raisins and crunchy walnuts.

According to All Recipes, it will take a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes to make 24 cookies and here are the ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • nonstick cooking spray with flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar, or as needed

Here are the steps:

  1. To make the dough:
    – mix the dry ingredients all together in a bowl such as flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt
    – make the wet mixture by combining butter, 1 cup white sugar, and brown sugar until you achieve a creamy texture, then put vanilla
    – mix the dry and wet with the oats, then cover and chill for an hour
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  3. Roll the dough into balls then put them on cookie sheets sprayed with floured cooking spray. 
  4. Flatten the balls using a large fork dipped in water and sugar.
  5. Optional, you may add raisins, dried cranberries, white chocolate chips, chocolate chips, walnuts, pecans, or shredded coconut.
  6. For some added extra, you may also add cinnamon and molasses.
