Dr. Liza Ong Discusses Effect of Monggo on People w/ Arthritis or Rheuma

MONGGO – Doctor Liza Ramoso-Ong explained why beans are not bad for people with arthritis or rheuma.

It is a common belief that people are suffering from arthritis or rheumatism must not eat beans. Allegedly, beans can trigger the inflammation on the joints.

This wide belief caused a lot of people to shy away from beans. However, do you know that you may be missing a lot of benefits by staying away from it? In fact, it may not be really bad for those with arthritis or rheuma.

In a video, Dr. Liza Ong explained that moderate amount of beans or more commonly called as “monggo” is not bad for people with arthritis or rheuma. According to the doctor, the purine it contains is not bad for rheuma or arthritis.

Doc Liza also expressed that monggo is good for the heart, the brain, and the body. Here are the other benefits of beans:

  • It contains a lot of vitamins like Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin B1 or Thiamine, B2 or Riboflavin, B3 or Niacin, B5 or Panthothenic Acid, B6 or Pyridoxine, and B9 or Folic Acid; and minerals like iron, manganese, copper, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus.
  • It contains anti-oxidants that help fight aging and Vitamin A, B1, B2, and B6 that neutralize free radicals against cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease.
  • It contains isoflavones hormones which are beneficial for women.
  • It bears no cholesterol making it good for the heart.
  • It contains fiber that helps fight bad cholesterol in the body.

According to Dr. Liza Ong, the American Diabetes Association even recommends eating monggo to diabetics. It is due to its low glycemic index. Here is the video:
