How we look from the outside is a reflection of what we put within which means that what we eat will show in our appearance. And the type of food that many experts want for the people to avoid or lessen the intake are those that are fried.

Eating fried foods is being linked to diseases like diabetes and heart diseases. According to a large and long term study led by Leah Cahill, the more frequent you eat fried foods increases the risk of both type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

People who ate 4-6 times per week of fried foods had a 39% increased risk and to those who consumed 7 times or more had a 55% increase compared to those who consumed less than once in a week.

Also, reusing the oil for frying is not advisable as it can also contribute to weight gain, higher cholesterol, and higher blood pressure, all of which are risk factors of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Here are reasons why you must not frequently eat fried foods:

  • Deep frying contains lots of calories and the more calories you take, the higher chance of gaining weight.
  • They are high in trans fats which is associated to a number of health problems.
  • It has Acrylamide which is a toxic substance and increases the risk of several types of cancer.
  • Unhealthy oils include:
    • Canola oil
    • Soybean oil
    • Cottonseed oil
    • Corn oil
    • Sesame oil
    • Sunflower oil
    • Safflower oil
    • Grape seed oil
    • Rice bran oil

Meanwhile, other alternative healthy methods for frying is oven-frying and air-frying. Among the healthiest oils include coconut oil, olive oil, and avocado oil.
