FOODS THAT TRIGGER ASTHMA – Here is a list of the foods that asthmatic individuals must avoid as they trigger an attack.

One of the common diseases that cannot be totally cured but can be handled is asthma. It is a respiratory condition in which the narrow airways becomes swollen following an allergic reaction to a trigger.

Usually, when an asthma attack takes place, the person will experience breathing difficulty, clogging of mucus in the nasal passages, and frequent sneezing. It can be due to a lot of factors.

An asthma attack may be triggered by dust, animal fur, the changing weather condition, food, or strenuous activities. This condition is serious and needs to be handled well to prevent asthma attacks.

There are foods that trigger asthma. Most of these are allergy-causing food and doctors can perform a skin test to check the foods in which the patient is allergic from.

  • Fish
  • Shrimp and other shellfish
  • Tree nuts

Based on the article, there are also some foods that trigger asthma because of their preservative-content. These may include dried fruits and vegetables, packaged potatoes, shrimp, pickled foods, and bottled lime or lemon juice.

If you are asthmatic, it is also important to make sure dusts are swept off everyday as they can really be itchy triggers to the nose. Use mask when cleaning and avoid very strong-smelling detergents.
