Truths be told that food choice is one of the biggest challenge for parents who wants to keep their kids healthy. There are a lot of healthy foods out there but children may sometimes be too picky.

Meanwhile, keeping the kids healthy is one of the best goals parents must continuously striver for everyday. You can begin by identifying those that you must not give to your kids or, at least, limit their consumption.

There are foods you must actually not give to your kids or not allow them to eat a lot because of unhealthy contents. Some does not only bring no good to the body but may also trigger diseases.

Based on an article on Newsweek, here is a list of some of the drinks and foods you must actually not give to your kids or limit their intake:

  • Apple Juice – According to Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics spokesman Wesley Delbridge, apple juice boxes and pouches only contain sugar which is not healthy for kids. It is better to give them fresh apples instead.
  • Honey – Based on the article, Delbridge suggests parents must not give their kids honey until they reach two (2) years old. There might be some bacteria in honey which may not hurt adults but may affect kids.
  • Soda – Undeniably, a lot of kids like drinking soda. It contains a lot of sugar that can trigger obesity, diabetes, and aggressive behavior in kids.
  • Boxed Cheesy Macaroni – Based on the article, this box is loaded with preservatives and sodium which can make kids crave more of salty and artificial foods.
  • Canned Fish – While fish is a healthy food, there are certain types of fish such as the king mackerel, canned albacore tuna, swordfish, and tilefish that can affect the nervous system of a child because of their high mercury content.
  • Granola Bars – These food bars are known to be healthy snacks. However, according to Delbridge, it contains little fiber and protein and kids’ sugar can spike up. It may have the same effect of giving them candy.

These are just some of the foods that you must actually not give to your kids. Fruits and vegetables are the best choices for kids.
