Fad Diets – Meaning and Examples Of This

These are the different types of fad diets if you want to lose weight.

FAD DIETS – We have different reasons for wanting to lose weight or for changing our diet but do fad diets really work? Here are some types of this.

A famous weight-loss plan that has dramatic results is a fad diet. This diet may let you lose weight and keep it off without exercise. Tempting right? It’s the best and fastest approach to losing weight.

Some popular types of this include very restrictive diets that it prohibits foods that contain necessary nutrients to maintain health. These diets may lack nutrients such as dietary fiber and carbohydrates and other vitamins, minerals, and protective phytochemicals.

It may include foods that have probiotics or high-fat, low-carbohydrate, or high-protein diets.

Here are some types of this:

  • High-protein, high-fat, low-carbohydrate diets like The South Beach Diet, The Complete Scarsdale Medical Diet, The Grapefruit Diet, The 3-Day Diet, The Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution, and Dr. Sears’ Enter the Zone Diet. These diets pose dangers for having no limits in consuming products with saturated fats which put heart health in danger.
  • High-carbohydrate, high-fiber diets like the Pritikin Diet Plan, Save-Your-Life Diet, and others. These diets, however, are low in protein and fat. Consumption of excessive carbohydrates also results in low immunity and poor wound healing.
  • Liquid diets like Liquid Formula Preparations and Cambridge Diet (Protein-Sparing Modified Fast).

Diet pills, diuretics, and laxatives also belong according to a post from News Medical.

However, a fad diet is not highly suggested. Quick weight loss is not healthy and is not sustainable and there’s a high chance that your weight will rebound once you start to eat again in a normal way. If you want to lose weight, do it in a safe and healthy way instead.
