Why Energy Drinks May Not Be 100% Safe for Everyone? Doc Willie Ong Explains
DOC WILLIE ONG – Celebrity doctor Willie Ong warned the public to be careful in drinking energy drinks most especially to the children.
Undeniably, nowadays, a lot of people are into drinking energy drinks. Most turn to this type of drinks everytime they are faced with a strenuous activity like going to the gym, playing sports, or working on a physical task.
To prevent curiosity on the part of the children regarding the drink, some adult would even let the kids take a gulp or sip. However, this may actually not be good for the young ones.
In a video, Doc Willie Ong warned the public to be careful in drinking energy drinks. According to him, it may not be a safe choice for those who are 18 years old and below and those who are age 40 years old and up.
Also, the doctor expressed that people who have the history of high blood pressure should not take energy drinks. It can lead to stroke.
Doc Willie Ong cited some effects and contents of energy drinks which are the reason why public should be careful in drinking it. According to the doctor, energy drinks:
- are high in caffeine which can cause high blood pressure
- can cause stroke
- can lead to palpitation
- can result to heart attack
According to Doc Willie, a cup of energy drink contains 100 milligrams of caffeine. It is equivalent to four(4) cups of coffee. The doctor clarified that Gatorade is not an energy drink but a sports drinks thus it is safer to drink.
